About 5ifth

I aim to create space for artists and creators; yes, i'm also talking about you.

We experience this world in very vast and different ways, this component is your biggest advantage to being a so called "artist"

My Story

The name and drive behind August 5ifth is stemmed from my beautiful magical brother Matthew; his birthdate being August 5th, 1994.

When Mattie was around 5 years old, the adverse effects from a vaccine led him to lose half of his brain and gain full paralysis of his body.

The most magical part is that he turned 30 this past year !

From this shift in my perspective on how easily our bodies can be swept from beneath us,

It’s become my mission to endure all aspects of creativity, movement, learning, teaching, growth, love, fear, and endure life with passion and presence.

We all experience vastly different worlds inside, maybe give yourself the permission to share it; and to pursue the creativity that each of us hold within and express it as if that is what we were put forth to do.

With continual curiosity, gravitation towards new projects, habits, and routes of creating,

Each item is slowly made through a traditional craftsmanship process in my very own factory (my bedroom or my lovely parents garage) which I have been working on a variety of items all obtaining second-hand materials and textiles to add a touch of sustainability to help our mama Earth.

Cheers to the continual journey of creation that is life,

Catherine
